I’ve been waffling around trying to figure out what to tell you all about an amazing book.  My church book club just read Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand.  It is the story of Louis Zamperini, athlete, bombardier and POW and much, much more.

What part of his story is the most important?  Depending on where you are in your life, it could be so many different things.  Don’t give up.  Believe in yourself.  Reach out to others.  It all came together when I saw this video send to me by one of my fellow readers.

The message that we as a society need to hear is one of forgiveness. As a society, we are quick to judge and to shame.  If Zamperini could forgive those who beat and tortured him, what excuses do we have?  How different would life be if we all took a page out of Zamperini’s life story?
